The Ethanol Industry Associations from the United States, Europe and Brazil have started to provide monthly market commentary on Ethanol Statistics. In a joint format, the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA), the European Bioethanol Fuel Association (eBIO) and the São Paulo Sugar Cane Agroindustry Union (UNICA) will contribute a feature article each month, in which they provide more insight into the most pressing issues in their region.
Robert Vierhout, Secretary-General of eBIO, was the first to post market commentary today. In his article, he provides an outlook on the most pressing issues for the European ethanol market in 2008.

Among his topics are the Renewable Energies Directive, still subject to approval of member states, the Fuel Quality Directive, which needs to be amended in order to allow for higher biofuel blends, and many other issues such as sustainability, trade and feedstock availability.

The RFA plans to publish its commentary on January 21, while UNICA plans to do so on January 28. The eBIO article can be found here.
